A Special Day

A Special Day

There is a day in a week
A celebration sort of Eid*
For the poor and weak
To show justice at its peak

There is a moment on that day
How should I say?
That's when your supplication coincides**
The answer to your prayer as Allah decides

And on that day there is a surah you can recite***
A week’s long serenity it provides
From Dajjal – a protection at sight
The evil Muslims fight

A day when unity reigns supreme
That is our dream
A congregational prayer is offered at all cost
As we gather at noon in the mosque****

On that day the world will come to an End
As foretold by our Prophet (pbuh) then
To warn and guide us
As in Allah we put our trusts

Thus offer the salutation to Rasulullah (saw) as you should
Do goods as much as you could
As on that day Allah’s mercy is abundance
An opportunity for Muslims to lighten our burdens*****

Only in Islam this is recognized
To help Muslims realized
And to take a break from this hectic life
The focus on ibadah our soul we revitalize

It too was said
On this day Allah created man and his mate******
A vicegerent as our fate
Accountable for our deeds and state

This day happens every week
An advice for us to seek
The many rewards it offers
For Muslims not to suffer in life hereafter

In Islam it is a special day
To reflect, ponder and mend our ways
“A Leader” of the days –
That is a FRIDAY*******

Last but not least this poem is only highlighting
In Islam there is such a thing
A special day – A Friday
But please do justice as ibadah is for everyday

* Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has said: "Salaat of Jumuah is like performing Hajj for the poor; every Friday there is Hajj and `Umrah for you and to wait for `Asr prayers is like `Umrah; to a Mu'min who goes for Salaat-ul-Jumua’h, Allah will lighten for him the fear on the Day of Judgment, and will instruct that the Mu’min be sent to Jannat. Whosoever forsakes, without any excuse, the Friday prayers for three consecutive Fridays, Allah stamps on his heart the seal of hypocrisy."

** Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah's Apostle talked about Friday and said, "There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah, then Allah will definitely meet his demand." And he (the Prophet) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands. (Sahih Bukhari 2.57)
*** It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khduri that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on Friday, he will be illuminated with light between the two Fridays.” Narrated by al-Haakim; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 836

**** Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “O you who believe (Muslims)! When the call is proclaimed for the Salaah (prayer) on Friday (Jumu‘ah prayer), come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu‘ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salaah (prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing). That is better for you if you did but know!” [al-Jumu’ah 62:9]

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba." (Sahih Bukhari 2.51)

*****He said in ‘Awn al-Ma’bood: Friday is singled out because it is the best of days and the chosen day. So there is an advantage to sending blessings upon him on that day that is not present on any other day. Along with these virtues and acts of worship, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade singling out Friday for fasting, or singling out the night of Friday for doing acts of worship that are not narrated in sharee’ah. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Do not single out the night of Friday for qiyaam al-layl, and do not single out the day of Friday for fasting, unless that is part of the habitual fasting of any one of you.” (Narrated by Muslim, 1144).

****** The prophet Muhammed (pbuh) said: "the best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he was expelled (from paradise), on it his repentance was accepted, on it he died and on it the Last Hour will take place."

******* Friday was chosen by Muhammad as the special day for Muslims, apparently in opposition and distinction to Jews and Christians:It is narrated by Abu Huraira and Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: It was Friday from which Allah diverted those who were before us. For the Jews (the day set aside for prayer) was Sabt (Saturday), and for the Christians it was Sunday. And Allah turned towards us and guided us to Friday (as the day of prayer) for us. In fact, He (Allah) made Friday, Saturday and Sunday (as days of prayer). In this order would they (Jews and Christians) come after us on the Day of Resurrection. We are the last of (the Ummahs) among the people in this world and the first among the created to be judged on the Day of Resurrection. In one narration it is: "to be judged among them." (Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Number 1862; see also Numbers 1858-1861, 1863)
