Battle of the Exes

We were once twin souls with one heart beat
Brought together by a Divine twist of Fate
But today we stand on the opposite sides of the street
Glaring at each other with pure hate

There was a time when we supported and built each other up
Today we break and tear one another down
No loving looks, no tender smile
Just gritted teeth and bitter frown

What happened to that beautiful union of two hearts?
You changed
I changed
It all fell apart
Secrets, lies and coverups
Deception down to a fine art

The good times forgotten
The respect all gone
Its knives out
And swords drawn

While war cries roar
High above the throne shudders
Down below its tears of the children that flow...
