I open my eyes if I dare,
To see the sky and the land so bare,

My hands so cold and dry,
My heart nothing but shy,

Memories only left to contemplate,
I must accept that this is fate.

The time we used to sit and stare,
Adoring one another for no care,

Holding hands as we walked,
Sharing an ice cream as we talked,

Your beauty and elegance with no compare,
Your kindness and purity ever so rare,

At times of my despair,
You were there,

At times of sadness,
You lightened my darkness,

You were more than my world,
You were my heaven,

You were the medicine to my sorrows,
And the drug to my feelings,

You kept my heart in motion,
Pumping it with:
Affection, enjoyment, excitement, imagination, happiness, encouragement, and my soul itself.

Now that we have gone our separate way,
You took my heart, leaving no remain,

From the time I awoke till the time I snoozed,
You were in my mind and between my arms,

I can’t accept that you with some else,
Cause you were mine to keep till the end,

I try to stop crying,
Try to forget,
Try to stay strong,
Try to move on,

But it seems impossible,
Since we were one and the same,
And now part of me is absent,
I experience nothing,

My senses have gone astray,
I see all as black,
I smell death in all corners,
All foods taste like the strawberry cupcakes you favoured,
And all I hear is your voice calling me from a distance,

I have lost my purpose of living,
Or a reason to think,

So I lay here,
On the beach that we met,

Waiting for an answer,
Or my death to set,

The sun is setting,
My shadow’s disappearing,

My tears soaking the sand,
Near my abandoned hand,

I reach for the stars above,
