Willful pursuit of happiness
is often pleased with flattery
of sycophants, dulling senses
to create false memories of good times.

Happiness is not as elusive as it seems
when it’s freed from the clutches of uncertainty
by sincere gratitude for undeserved gifts
bestowed by the Almighty

Hard work reduces time available for unhappiness
and death-like stillness shakes off dust
from disappointments, both just and unjust.
Realization of the ever shrinking time remaining, does the rest.
