I was told heaven is under your mothers feet. This made me think long and hard about that statement, because in all seriousness, what has a mother done? It's not like she held you in her womb for nine months, going through pain everyday in hopes of meeting a healthy you. It's not like she went through hours of pain in labor, in order to give you the gift of fresh air that your lungs ached for. It's not like she taught you your very first words, and set you up on a path for success. It's not like she was by your side through every pain and heartache, spreading her fingers as wide as she can in order to catch all your pain and heal it, even if she got blistered and bruised in the way. Or maybe, you were staring so wide eyed at the exciting new life full of freedom and hope, to realize the strong, beautiful woman that was always by your side.
