I am a sleepless Muslim
My tears may belong in this dunya
but the rhythm of my heart does not,

I am a praying Muslim
My faith in creations has dissolved me
but the faith in my Creator has not

I am a dreaming Muslim
My visions may be shrouded by my ego
but the fragrance of my belief is not

I am a grieving Muslim
My love for the One is unlimited,
knowing that the numbers of my breath are not

I am a traveling Muslim
Weary of the waterous abyss of mankind
though the waves of His mercy still crash
on the shores of my soul

I am a bleeding Muslim
Enduring with patience what is and is not,
worshipping the Endower with my body,
receiving His gifts with a bliss.

I am a living Muslim
Surrendering every moment of my life,
expecting nothing of this world,
except the longing for the Next.
