I Before US

The competition is severe
as to who will suck up more
of my country’s love galore
for a regime that’s insecure.

Rumblings in the heartland
when the shades are drawn
No one wants to be scarred
by a neighbor who’s a Pollard!

The groveling seems vile
from both sides of the aisle.
The only good news:
It can’t get much worse.
