“Be good”, my mother said
And even though it’s sometimes hard
I will try, yes I will try
And not break my mother’s heart

You see this mortal world
Is all going to dust
What lives on is your work
So be good – you must

And when we meet, on the promised day
Seeing how we used opportunities we had
I want the pure angels to say
“He did more good than bad”

And then mother turning to me, saying:
Look! My lovely son!
Let’s step into eternity
See! How the good have won.
