Mum and Dad: A reply and A Tribute to NiiJU

Submitted by : qalamuddin on Romantic

Lucky is the father and mother
When their sons and daughters
Showing piety, supplicate with loyalty
True to their duty

How many a children?
Take their parents as a burden
Neither appreciative nor attentive
Of the sacrifice they made when we were young and active*

NiiJu opens my eyes
The poetry reminds the ties
A strong bond between parents and children
Build through generations not of a sudden

Such a tribute by Allah**
Emphasized by Rasulullah
Isn’t heaven beneath the foot of a mother?***
What a status she gathers!

Bolder is our act as the older they get
And the easier we get them upset, the faster we forget
A deed we will soon regret
When they become our daily target

Mother and father – the only two persons
You being born – they are the reason
Irrespective of the season
Obey them and don’t commit treason

Lucky are the parents
To have the likes of NiiJu as their children
The gratitude she showers ****
It’s more than just giving flowers

That is the scheme of nature
The good is to nurture
Not to torture
That is for your own future

To all children, one day you’ll be a parent
Treat them good, as you would your children
There will definitely be a difference
When it is your turn!

* Al-Quran (31:14): ‘And we have enjoined on man (to be dutiful and good) to his parents. His mother bore him in weakness and hardship upon weakness and hardship...”

** Al-Quran (17:23) “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour.”

*** In the time of Prophet Muhammad, a man asked permission to go on a military expedition. The Prophet asked the man if he had a mother, when he replied yes, Prophet Muhammad said, “Stay with her because Paradise lies beneath her feet”.
(Ahmad, Al-Nasai)

**** In a hadeeth of Prophet Muhammad, a man came to the Prophet asking, ‘Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said, your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said, then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said, then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet replied, then your father.
(Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim)
