Raven Superpower

Raven Superpower

The silence was sleepless from the racket,
The whistle of wind grimaced,
The heart of the oak wrenched,
From colophony of an invading hoard.

The sun wished to close his eye on the day,
The patient might, happy to stay away,
Leaves tremored in the sonic rain,
Of raging ravens driven insane.

Morbid mob of malice and spite,
Fill day lit branches with frosting of night,
Perching flicker of sinister feather,
Nightmare wings like darkened leather.
Covering helpless grounded mice,
Warned by sirened aerial raids,

Whooping air, cut diving hunger,
Random assaults on innocent prey.
Murdering, scavenging,
Looting and ravaging,

Pillages a pirate army,
On blooded, leafy, carpet floor.
Suckling cubs and pregnant mothers,
Torn apart by bickering beaks,

Screeching flock, gloat and mock,
Taunting slander, shrill propaganda.
Soldiers quiet in sudden wonder,
Heads distracted from spoils of war,
By song in rage and protest,
As hyenas silenced by lion’s roar.

A lonely melody echoes proud
Bluetit brother’s brave bravado
Sing wounded, cry in anger,
Demanding end to raven plunder.

The breeze rings with tune delight
The chest of oak puffing pride,
Distant leaves green in envy,
Claw gripped branches agree inside.

Then shriek of riot erupts,
Retrieving stolen thunder,
Outrage for bluetit blunder,
Offended haughty hunger.
Bloody, thirsty, bony beaks,
Cowing torrent burning blame,
De-daring right to feast
And punish daring, bluetit speech.

Darkness forms a curtain,
With trim of feathers flapping,
Hopping raven prison bars,
Hastily are wrapping.

Barking flying murderers.
Banishing petition,
Reaping proud impunity,
Rules a raven superpower.
