Civilizations have a way of factoring time.

If you look at an old person
you know his time is up
sooner than later
and you belittle them
not in overly obvious ways

If you meet a younger one
enamored as you are with their better looks
the time factor eggs you to be nice to them
No respect for the worldly knowledge
in that young skull.

Some civilizations have lonely exits.
