A Friendship – A Bond
We were together for 6 years
Fun, joy and tears
1974 was the year
The bond we forged I hold so dear.
We were schooled at Duchess Primary*
At 13 we went on with our own stories
Allah works a mystery
At 50 – a reunion rekindles our bond perfectly
We mature we age
But the 6 years together history never turns a page
Our school was the stage.
Our friendship never went out of date
We were innocent all friends and no foe
Childish prank was a must but in a minute all was forgiven though
Childhood crush remains a secret
As we grew – all these forms valuable memory trinkets
Yes, I remember the years
Reminiscing brought few tears
Childhood friend remains in top gear
Now our friendships hold no fear
As we proceeded the bond mature
Taking the shape in Islamic stature
Bearing Allah’s signature – painting the nature
Yes we meet to forge what Rasulullah nurtures
The bond in Islam is the answer
We pray we will have a better reunion in hereafter
In Jannah we will laugh – a jester
Oh Allah swt these are my friends of yesteryear
Friendship goes beyond laughter
Time changing us faster
Catching up is a disaster
Oh Allah just makes us better.
In al-Quran I remember a Chapter **
Our friendship is not a caper
Oh Allah makes us among the piety
Have mercy and sympathy!
This is our life just a short duration
Let us be the 12 years old of no transgression
As we reach life 50th station
We pray Jannah as our destination
