Crocodile Tears
Blinding glow of vacant land,
Arid heat cracks thirsty sand,
Lifeless mud like shattered glass,
Ominous sight of hungry pass.
Imposing flame of lofty ball,
Casting priceless little shade.
Fluorescent sky bereft of cloud,
Yet roar of thunder sounds.
Stampeding gravel cloud,
Concealing speeding crowd,
Unstoppable galloping hooves,
Trampling as they move.
Millions bred and horns,
A mighty column tours,
Trekking far and wide,
To where a river dawns.
They brave the raging currents,
In a leathery waterfall,
Hooves splash and horns flash,
A bridge of black is formed.
Hoping for the other side,
Where grazing grass grows greener,
Wave of feet in massive tide,
With crumbling muddy banks collide.
Lengthy legs of lumpy wood,
Floating gently by.
Spying out with beedy eyes,
While wilder beast are occupied.
Teary eyes weep and cry,
Salty trickle on bumpy ride,
Cascading over nobbly cheeks,
Dissolving into rippling tide.
Concern and worry fill tiny minds,
Grief and sorrow at terrible plight,
‘Poor and needy wilderbeast!’
Cry waiting selfless crocodiles.
‘So many hungry mouths to feed!
So little grass to fill their needs!
Send all our troops to help
And swiftly give them aid!
Liberate these beasts!
Free them from their hunger!
Save them from the tyranny!
They’ll thank us all in wonder!
Rush inside on either flank,
Trim the weakest of their ranks!
If each of us eats one or two,
Then far less mouths will make it through!
Remaining beasts will fill their bellies,
Without the need to share their food!
Wipe your tears and get to work
On this altruistic mission!
Bite and drag and drown them all!
You are protected by our laws!
For only evil terrorists,
Would stop this righteous cause!’
