Struggle in the Middle
There are times when I look in the mirror,
and see a quaint stranger.
He does seem a bit familiar,
if you focus on just the exterior.
I know he has changed inside.
Vagaries of life made him tired.
Finding it ever harder to bear,
pious rantings, predictable to the core.
Between good and evil, the choice is clear.
In the middle there are decisions galore.
Piety on one side, pleasure on the other.
Can’t have both, a struggle for sure!
