The Divine Spectacle
Not for nothing am I a Miracle
See for yourself the Divine Spectacle
They dared to demand a mighty miracle
So produce something like this Oracle
Full of beauty, grace and charm
Nothing you can do to cause me harm
Tried very hard but miserably failed
Their bits of scrap behind me trailed
Placed fingers in their ears but I pierced their heart
If it is Allaah’s will, from me you cannot part
If you read me before you sleep
A change will occur so very deep
Recital in the morning is beneficial too
Many blessings from me you will accrue
Yet you left me on a shelf as a tablet preserved
This is not something that I readily deserved
You used me in court for a mighty oath
But otherwise ignored which I totally loath
Kisses and soft cloth I do not need
Recitation of me will be your good deed
If only you practice what I say
Including Salaah regularly pray
Allaah will increase your wisdom to the full
Open my cover and become delightful
Join the list of those inspired
Cover to cover you won’t get tired
Perfect principles within me you will find
Follow them if you will, and to your soul be kind
Life’s mysteries will unfold before your very eyes
The Creator’s marvels will take you to the skies
Alas, I am only read when someone’s dead
The graveyard is where you too will head
No evil shall touch you if I am with you
May Allaah’s light descend upon you
Open my cover and see me bloom
Your brain and heart will soon run out of room
But what do I say to the living dead?
Everything to say has already been said
Kept and protected on a cupboard so high
I look down at the faithful and give a big sigh
I am not merely a book but Allaah’s divine Word
Sent to be read and sent to be heard
