The Salutation
Submitted by : qalamuddin on Prophet SAW
The era of Globalization needs no introduction
A way to salvation is by the salutation *
Mind you! Allah and the angels do it without hesitation **
Our beloved Prophet is the inspiration
Mere mortals are in need of a role model
Exasperation in dealing with our daily ordeal
Minimizing the aggravations
We need the salutation
Through a man Allah provides salvation
Follow his way to redemption
To all without exception
Yes recite the salutation
The world is getting older
But are we getting smarter?
A false sense of security
If we think we live for eternity
Twitter, flickr and face book
It is difficult not to get hook.
A click of a mouse – such a simple dexterity
The hours we spend on the miss opportunity
We admire pop stars, actors and sportsmen
Much time and money spend
Have we stop and think what Allah has sent?
Yes, he is none other than our beloved Prophet the exemplar of Man
Oh Rasulullah! How we have wronged thee.
Barking on the wrong tree
We forget the sacrifices you made
The mercy that cascades
A salutation is the least we can do ***
A remembrance of how much we love you
Count us as your followers
Even if we fumble over and over
We are but mere mortals
The lust we hope to curtail
Hopefully will bring us closer
To our Creator and His Messenger
Salutation is the salvation ****
Oh Allah! We are your servants in desperation
We desperately need your guidance
Please place us in your highest heaven

* The Reward of Invoking Blessings in him: Hadrat Abdullah Ibn-e-Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "The person who asks blessings upon me abundantly, will be nearest to me on the Day of Judgment." (Tirmidhi)
** Al-Quran (33:56) God and His angels send blessings upon the prophet. O believers! Send blessings upon him and salute him with a goodly salutation
*** Salutations on the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) and on his decendants Hadrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila (may Allah be pleased with him) said that once he paid a visit to Hadrat Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), who asked him if he should present to him a gift which he had heard from the Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him). On this, Hadrat Abdur Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) requested him to do so. Hadrat Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Once we asked the Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him), O Apostle of Allah! we have already been taught by Allah (The Glorified and the Exalted) how to offer Salaam (salutation) upon you, but we do not know the correct way to ask blessings upon you and your family.' The Holy Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) replied, 'Ask in the following way:
"O Allah! Shower Thy blessings upon our leader Muhammad and on his descendants as Thou showered Thy blessings upon our leader Ibrahim and his descendants; verily Thou art the Praiseworthy, the Glorious. O Allah! Bestow favours on our leader Muhammad and on his descendants as Thou Bestowed favours on our leader Ibrahim and on his descendants; verily Thou art the Praiseworthy, the Glorious." (Bukhari)
**** Hadrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (may Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) said, "If somebody hears my name, he should ask blessings upon me. When a person asks one blessing upon me, Allah (The Glorified and the Exalted) sends ten blessings upon him, forgives his ten sins, and raises him ten degrees (in Paradise)." (Ahmad, an-Nasai)
