Uniquely Rasulullah (pbuh) – Abdan Shakura!

Imagine you are guaranteed a place in Heaven
And all your sins are forgiven!
What will you do?
Enjoy! Do about just anything – and that’s true

This is a mere mortal answer
You and me, we do not differ!
But this is not the case
From A Special man given such a place

I’m not talking about Superman
But about a man – Allah sent
Yes he is none other than our beloved Rasulullah (pbuh)
A humble servant of Allah (swt)

Uniquely Rasulullah (pbuh) he is Abdan Shakura*
All setbacks and pains he took gladly until the last straw
Just look at history – an example a gem so rare and raw
This is the lesson we need to draw

He is Special so unique!
And to know this you don’t have to be a psyche
Muslims are now ‘sick’
As Abdan Shakura – we do not tick!

Abdan Shakura – made Rasulullah (pbuh) stood above the rest
As he passed even the hardest of inflictions and tests
We deviated from his teachings so far
And we think we on par

As Muslim, are we guaranteed of heaven?
Yes! Except those without devotion – what more conviction!**
Sincerely just ask yourself "Shouldn't I be Allah's grateful Servant"
As this should be our attitude 24/7

All the blessings we received,
We claimed “Without any help this is what I have achieved”
Oh we have been totally deceived
When we forget that – Allah swt gives!

Abdan Syakura is being thankful
To whatever Allah swt has given, set and send to the full
I Am Thankful – is IAT ***
This requires your knowledge, action and speech to the T ****

Now be Abdan Shakura – A humble grateful servant
We aim for the highest tavern
Yes that is the Heaven
When all things are even

* Let's go back in time. Back to Mad?nah, through the masjid and to the Prophet's (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) home. We see him there, in the darkness of the night, praying to his Lord. He is crying as he reads the ayat of the Qur'an. He has been standing for so long, and you see that his blessed feet have swelled and the skin is cracking.

Many of us would think what A'ishah, his beloved wife, (radi Allahu anha) asked him afterward. She said, “O Prophet of All?h, why do you undergo so much hardship despite the fact that All?h has pardoned for you your earlier and later sins?” He (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) responded, “Afala akuna abdan shakura? Should I not prove myself to be a thankful servant?”

** Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Everyone from my nation will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, who will refuse?” He said, “Whoever obeys me enters Paradise and whoever disobeys me has refused.” Source: Sahih Bukhari 6851

*** I am Thankful – IAT is Intention and Iman, Amal and Tawakkal in other words IAT is using your Ilm guiding our Action and Tongue (speech) properly

**** Al-Quran 34: 13 “Work, O family of David, in gratitude.”
All?h (sub??nahu wa ta'?la) did not say, “Be grateful!” rather He said to work in gratitude. We learn from the Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) that the most beloved fasting and prayer to All?h is the fasting and prayer of Dawud (alayhi salaam).

Thabit al-Binani (rahimahullah) says regarding this ?yah, Dawud (alayhi salaam) would divide the hours of the night and day between his family so that there wouldn’t be an hour of the night or day except that a person from the family of Dawud would be praying, so All?h addressed them all by saying, “Work, O family of David, in gratitude,” [Uddat al-Saabireen]

From this ?yah, im?m ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) states that there are three branches of shukr:
1. Knowledge: Knowledge is the foundation of shukr. We must be aware and knowing of the fact that All?h (sub??nahu wa ta'?la) is the One who is bestowing us with these blessings. We attribute all of our blessings to Him ta'ala. Some people attribute good to themselves and when they are faced with difficulty or hardship, they attribute it to All?h. This is not gratitude rather it is kufr, a defiant denial of All?h's favors.

2. Recognition and Awareness: The slave remembers All?h and His favors with his tongue – by praising All?h, and remembering Him through supplication and words of remembrance, and acknowledges it in his heart. It is reported in Tafsir al-Qurtubi that Dawud (alayhi salaam) said, “O my Lord! How can I be grateful to You when gratitude is a blessing from You?!” All?h (azza wa jall) responded to him, “Now you have shown true gratitude (because you've recognized that all blessings are from Me).”

3. Deeds: The slave works in gratitude by being an obedient slave to All?h (sub??nahu wa ta'?la). It is reported in Tafsir al-Tabari that Abu Abdur-Rahman al-Hubaly (rahimahullah) said, “Prayer is shukr, fasting is shukr and any deed done for the sake of All?h is shukr.”
