to my beloved green bird! (flying under Arshul-Majid!)*

How dare these tears fall
like a flowing river unfazed?
where do such nerves come from
to feel hurt, to long, to miss without an end?
Who betrayed you Oh fragile soul
which organ you carry broke their word?
You know my secret which I whispered to You oh my Lord
In the dead of the night, I used to ask for a knight
not just any knight, the cream of the crop
that shall one day become a shahid
I knew that Allah t'alla heard
and my prayers may be answered
and they were!
He came along my knight, my beloved husband
with sunnah on his left, the Qur'an on his right
My beautiful prince came and set my heart alight
This sure must be love straight from The Maker
to feel a love so true, to feel connection and a bond that's pure
to wish, to have, to hold for better or for worse
together forever!
I could never have been prepard to miss u this much Me'arey*
your priceless smile, your love, your gentle way
your Sabr through the toughest trials
the way your Imaan grew each day
I could never have told you I loved you enough
or showed you how much I cared
how you were sent for me from my Lord
and how I asked for you my beloved
wish I could see you now in a body of a green bird
care-free, not a worry under Arshul-Majid!
You still take my breath away my love, as you always did
You won't be alone though, with your brothers by your side
Look for my baby brother, he should be there too as a green bird
Tell him I love him and my heart breaks from missing him
if he asks who it's from...
tell him confidently..
'from my wife..and your adoring sister,
who used to ask The Almighty in the dead of the night
to accept her brother
the unsung hero
the brave Mujahid
and begged for a knight who'd also do her proud
and got all her wishes and prayers answered!'
Will you wait for me my love?
If I manage to cross the bridge when comes that time?
Will you love me like you did when you were mine and mine alone
For I will love you better then and my dear
You'll see my love for you deepen!
'If you love something, set it free..' they say
I say, 'I have let you go the day I whispered to my Lord
to grant me a knight, who'd, one day become a shahid
Me'arey
I set you free even before you came to me
forgive these eyes for crying
for they only yearn to see you again
If fortunate enough,
.....for eternity!
Farewell for now green bird, fly freely as you please
As I dedicate this poem to you and leave my heart at ease
Salam to you for now goodbye seems too final
You shall dwell in my heart and I do love you still
...I love you fi'sabilillah, Me'arey!
From your loving wife, Umm Muhammad (sat.) 31/10/2009 23:49
*Me'arey means 'my honey' in Tigrigna language (Spoken in East Africa, both in Eritrea and Ethiopia)
*It has been narrated on the authority of Masruq (ra)who said: We asked 'Abdullah (ra) on the Qur'anic verse: "Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they are alive finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord." (Qur'an: 3:169) He said, 'we asked the meaning of the verse from the Prophet (saaw) who said: "The souls of the martyrs live in the body of green birds who have their nests in chandeliers hung from the Throne of the Almighty. They eat the fruit of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in these chandeliers. (Sahih Muslim, 20:4651)
