Waiting in silence
Staring at the stars
Wondering what is to come
Marvelling at who we are

A storm is approaching
Of shocking multitude
Some sit and wait alone
While others gather in groups

This isn’t a normal storm
With wind, and clouds, and rain
It’s a battle to survive
To keep our right to choose, alive

People are gathering
Together all as one
Trying their best to beat us
But they don’t know that we have already won

We cannot let them take away our faith
Our personalities, our thoughts
We cannot let them strip us of our rights
A symbol of our souls

A simple cloth I wear upon my head
How can it bother or harm?
They may have the power to take our Hijab
But they can’t take away our mission

Struck to the floor, but not yet beaten
We will all rise again
This isn’t any old thing we are fighting for
It’s our right to live as Muslim sisters
